Would you like to attend a couponing class?

I want to make saving money on everyday purchases a reality for as many people as possible.  Trying to learn how to do this on your own can be time consuming and overwhelming.  Believe me, I know, that is how I learned!  I would like to help people avoid that steep learning curve because I also know how much fun and incredibly rewarding shopping this way can be.

Sometimes it can be difficult to get started by browsing through old posts I've written and trying to piece together information on your own.  So, I offer couponing classes.  I will come personally teach you how to shop smart with coupons, rebates and discounts.

The class (a powerpoint presentation) will cover the following areas:

Grocery Coupons (typically 1-2 hrs):
  • Bite-sized getting started tips
  • What is stockpiling and how it works
  • Where to find coupons
  • How to organize coupons
  • Decoding all the coupon jargon
  • How to stack coupons with other deals (sales, rebates, etc) to get things for free / next to free.  This includes a brief overview of Drug Store shopping.
  • Southern California Store Coupon Policies
Using Online Grocery Shopping Databases and Blogs (typically 45-60 min)
There are many different grocery shopping databases and blogs available that can help you save time while shopping this way.  Each has different benefits and drawbacks.  We will discuss each of these and you will be able to ask questions about each of them.  We will also discuss the following:
  • How to use these databases to find the absolute best rock bottom deals at different stores in the Southern California area.
  • How to use these databases to find coupons from Sunday newspapers, magazines and online printable coupon sites.
  • How to use them to help you quickly and effectively plan your shopping (saving you time and not just money)
Applying the principles to other types of shopping (typically 20-30 min):
  • I teach how to apply the principles of price tracking, stockpiling, and deal stacking to areas other than the grocery store so you can save on everything from clothes to appliances to furniture.
We also have a Q&A session that lasts anywhere from 45-60 min

The When & Where:
  • You must provide the location (depending on how many people are in attendance, your home is often fine, but I have also done classes at churches etc), and a TV or projector & screen for me to use. (the class is done with powerpoint and I need somewhere to hook up my laptop)
  • I will come to a class anywhere in San Diego, LA, Riverside, Orange, or Ventura County.
  • I prefer to do all classes on Saturdays, but can make special arrangements if necessary.
  • I will not normally do more than two classes a month, so scheduling is limited.
  • The typical class lasts around 4 hours.

The rates are as follows:

  • There must be at least 5 people in attendance in addition to you.
  • The host of the class (in this case you, pays nothing)
  • For a 5-8 person class, the rate is $17 / person
  • For a 9-15 person class, the rate is $12 / person
  • For a 16-25 person class, the rate is $7 / person
  • For a $25+ person class, the rate is just $4 / person!
