- Manufacturer’s Coupons: These are coupons that are made available to the public (in one way or another) by the manufacturer of the product. They are accepted at nearly all grocery and drug stores. A few small markets as well as Costco and Sam’s Club will not accept them.
- Store Coupons: These are coupons that are made available to the public (in one way or another) by a store that is selling that item. They are usually accepted only at the store that issued them.
- B1G1F: Buy one, get one free. The numbers can change. For example, you could have B2G1F (Buy two, get one free), or B2G3F (Buy two, get three free).
- Double Coupons: Some stores (Ralphs and Vons in the Southern California area) double the face value of your coupon within certain limitations. To learn more about this, see Basic Coupons Explained.
- Insert Coupons: These are coupons that come with the Sunday paper. The date they came with the paper will be listed first followed by one of the following:
- SS: Coupons that can be found in a Smart source insert
- RP: Coupons that can be found in a Redplum insert.
- PG: Coupons that can be found in a a Proctor & Gamble insert
- Other: Occasionally there will be other coupon inserts included by a certain manufacturer (General Mills, Campbells, Kelloggs etc). When this happens, the initials of the manufacturer will be used to identify it.
- Rebate: A rebate that that was available in an insert. The date it came with the paper will be listed first, followed by the word Rebate and then one of the above listed initials.
- PCD: Coupons that can be linked to and printed from Printable Coupons and Deals. Stephanie tracks and lists printable coupons she finds from all over the internet. We recommended visiting her site often (at least a few times a week) to print the coupons you may use. You can then file them away and pull them out when the Current Deals list tells you to use them. (printable coupons have print limits, so often if you don't print them when they are first available, they won't be there anymore when a great sale comes along) The day Stephanie posted the coupon will be listed first followed by the initials PCD.
- AY: Coupons found in an issue of All You Magazine
. The month of the issue the coupon can be found in will be listed first followed by the initials AY
- FrugRebate: A rebate that was posted on the Frugalicious Blog. The date the rebate was posted will be listed first followed by the word FrugRebate
- Catalinas: These are the coupons that are printed at the end of your transaction from the white machine sitting next to the register.
- Blinkies: You can find these coupons in the little machines hanging on the shelf in stores. The machine is usually blinking.
- Peelies: These coupons are stuck to the product itself in the store.
- Uploads: These are coupons that you never have to clip. You simply upload them directly to your store membership card. When you scan your card, any coupon for an item you are buying will automatically be applied.
- Mailers: Coupons mailed to you by a specific store. The coupons are usually only good at that store.
- CVS Price Scanner: It looks like any other free-standing price-checker that you see at Walmart, etc. If you scan your CVS card at the scanner, very often it will print out extra CVS (store) coupons for name-brand products.
- B2S: Coupons that you can buy
