  • Manufacturer’s Coupons: These are coupons that are made available to the public (in one way or another) by the manufacturer of the product. They are accepted at nearly all grocery and drug stores. A few small markets as well as Costco and Sam’s Club will not accept them.
  • Store Coupons: These are coupons that are made available to the public (in one way or another) by a store that is selling that item. They are accepted only at the store that issued them.
  • B1G1F: Buy one, get one free. The numbers can change. For example, you could have B2G1F (Buy two, get one free), or B2G3F (Buy two, get three free).
  • Double Coupons: Some stores (Ralphs and Vons in the Southern California area) double the face value of your coupon within certain limitations. To learn more about this, see Basic Coupons Explained.
  • Inserts: Coupons found in the coupon packets that come with the Sunday paper. These are the coupons Frugalicious matches to your weekly sales.
    • SS: Smart Source.
    • RP: Red Plum.

Non-Inserts: Coupons that can be found outside of the Sunday newspaper.
  • Internet Printables (IP): These are coupons that you can print on your home computer from an online service.
  • Catalinas: These are the coupons that are printed at the end of your transaction from the white machine sitting next to the register.
  • Blinkies: You can find these coupons in the little machines hanging on the shelf in stores. The machine is usually blinking.
  • Peelies: These coupons are stuck to the product itself in the store.
  • Uploads: These are coupons that you never have to clip. You simply upload them directly to your store membership card. When you scan your card, any coupon for an item you are buying will automatically be applied.

  • CVS Boyfriend: This is the nickname of the price scanner that you can find in many newer CVS stores. It looks like any other free-standing price-checker that you see at Walmart, etc. If you scan your CVS card at the scanner, very often it will print out extra CVS (store) coupons for name-brand products.
  • B2S: Coupons that you can buy
